Q4 2020 Overview: Top Android Consumer Finance Apps in Brazil

As the year 2020 drew to a close, the consumer finance app sector in Brazil witnessed various trends in user engagement and downloads on the Android platform. Sensor Tower's data provides a look into the performance of the top applications in this category during the fourth quarter of the year.

PicPay: cartão, conta e pix, with no revenue reported, saw a significant spike in downloads, jumping from 310K in late September to a peak of over 1.5M in early December. Weekly active users followed a similar upward trend, starting at around 7.6M and reaching upwards of 9.3M in the same period.

Another notable app, Nubank: conta, cartão e mais, also reported zero revenue, yet experienced consistent download numbers, maintaining a range between 353K and 477K. The app's weekly active users presented a steady climb, starting from approximately 16.7M to nearly 17.8M by year's end.

The CAIXA app's downloads showed relative stability, with minor fluctuations around the 300K to 400K mark throughout the quarter. The weekly active users for CAIXA depicted a slight increase from 13.7M to over 15M in November, followed by a dip to around 13.9M by the end of December.

For Mercado Pago: cuenta digital, downloads saw a decrease from an initial 434K to around 231K. The app's weekly active users peaked at over 7.3M in late November, before falling to approximately 5M by the close of the quarter.

Lastly, Santander Brasil maintained a steady download count, ranging from 119K to 215K during Q4. The app's weekly active users experienced a slight rise from 6.9M to 7.3M in November, before descending to around 6.7M by the fourth quarter's end.
